Bajaj Ninja Virtue (1200 Watt) Mixer Grinder

Bajaj Ninja Virtue (1200 Watt) Mixer Grinder is built for the kitchen where grinding is not an occasional job. If you grind a week's turmeric, chilli and coriander in one sitting, a low-powered machine heats up and stalls halfway. With a 1200 watt motor, this one holds its speed through hard, dry loads instead of slowing down.

As a 1200 Watt Mixer Grinder it comes with three blades, so heavy dry grinding and softer wet pastes each get the right blade rather than one compromise blade doing everything. An adjustable speed switch lets you drop the speed for ginger and garlic and push it up for hard spices — the reason a 3 Blade Mixer Grinder is more useful day to day than a single-speed machine.

In practice this Bajaj Mixer Grinder handles the three jobs Bangladeshi kitchens repeat most: grinding dry spices, working up chutney and bhorta pastes, and blending fruit into smoothies. That makes it a straightforward Mixer Grinder for Spices as well as an everyday blender.

The Bajaj Ninja Virtue is manufactured in India and carries a one-year motor warranty. When you compare grinders, look past the wattage alone at the blade count, the speed control and the motor warranty — those decide how the machine copes a year from now.

• Run heavy grinding in short spells with rest breaks so the motor does not overheat.
• Switch off and unplug before removing a jar, changing a blade or cleaning any part.
• Wash the jars and blades separately by hand and keep the motor base away from water.
